What is AutismPro?

AutismPro is an innovative web-based program which helps families and services providers working with young children (up to 7 years old) with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to choose and implement effective objectives and activities.

AutismPro is based on the knowledge and experience of leading international autism researchers and practitioners with backgrounds in the major autism educational methods
including:

Behavioural Method - a highly instructional teaching approach based on the science of Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA).
Social Method - a child focused teaching approach based on the principles of child development, specifically how social relationships lay the foundation for all learning.
Developmental Method - an eclectic structured teaching approach that combines aspects of both behavioural and social methods in a natural setting.

Using any computer with an internet broadband connection, parents follow a series of simple steps to guide them in assessing their child’s individual needs and developmental stage to prepare an intervention plan specifically for their child.

AutismPro provides families with an evidence based comprehensive educational approach which target the following developmental skill areas:

Emotional
Communication
Receptive language
Expressive language
Cognitive / Academic
Independence
Fine and gross motor skills

AutismPro is available nationally in regional, rural, remote and metropolitan areas.

Building a Support Team

AutismPro aims to build a team around the family by inviting up to five team members (includes extended family and professionals) to benefit from also accessing the online program.
Autism Spectrum Australia’s AutismPro Support Service delivers a comprehensive educational approach under a multidisciplinary framework with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Special Education Teachers and Psychologists.
AutismPro Support Service is a trans-disciplinary team which provides a family focused support program based on extensive interview with parents and child observations.
The AutismPro Support Service can provide a variety of additional individualised support and information to families. Previous families have been assisted with issues around toilet training, positive behaviour support, visual supports in the home and classroom, bedtime routines and the development of communication systems.
Professionals working with the child can be invited to incorporate AutismPro plans into their work.

Paying for AutismPro by using your Helping Children with Autism funding

AutismPro is a FaHCSIA Registered Service Provider, and the licence fee and all additional consultations can be paid for with money under the Federal Government’s Helping Children with Autism Package. Please speak to an Autism Advisor to apply for this funding or find out more about it.

If your child is already approved for FaHCSIA funding, and you would like to use some of the funds to purchase AutismPro, then all you need to do is fax or email a copy of your child’s ‘Letter of Introduction’ and include your contact details.

Licence

Start up cost of $2,000 for the AutismPro Professional Licence. This includes an initial consultation to set up the child’s profile and 12 month online access.

Support Service

Families can choose to access the AutismPro Support Service which offers a flexible package tailored to the needs of the family at the rate of $125 per hour (plus travel,
materials and training workshop costs) up to $4,000.

The AutismPro Support Service is a package designed in consultation with parents. Families can choose from the following list of services:

Development of an individual service plan
Telephone and e-mail consultations
Face to face consultations and support
Individual consultations at the Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) Sydney Office
Online training
Access to resources and information such as useful websites
Development of practical tools including visual supports, sensory supports and communication aids
Video banking which will enable AutismPro Support Service to view the child and provide ideas for strategies and supports
Pre-school, school and community setting observations and training
Regional and Sydney based workshops
Other options will be considered to fit within the families needs. This will be negotiable based on resources
