Social.Clubs

For Boys and Girls aged 8 – 18 years
 

Parents/Carers of Boys and Girls aged 8 – 18 years with an autism spectrum disorder are invited to register their child in our Social Clubs Program.
 

The Social Clubs program aims to provide participants with:
 

  • regular opportunities to meet and make new friends and to interact in structured but relaxed, stimulating, and fun recreational environments;
  • one, two or occasionally three hour sessions (depending on participants’ age and the nature of the event) involving a range of activities to foster participants’ talents and interests, as well as other structured activities to help promote social skills and sense of social connectedness, emotional well-being and physical health;
  • opportunities to engage in age-appropriate events such as concerts, talent showcases, exhibitions, parties and dances; and
  • formal and informal opportunities to share experiences and feelings with each other, guest speakers and trained group facilitators.


The Social Clubs will be categorised into three types:
 

  • Groups of mixed boys and girls from 8 – 12 years old;
  • Groups of girls from 13 – 18 years old; and
  • Groups of boys from 13 – 18 years old.
     

When:       Various days and times outside school hours
Where:     Various venues across Sydney metropolitan area, Newcastle/Hunter, Central Coast and South Coast

The Social Clubs program is a service provided by the Educational Outreach unit of Austism Spectrum Australia (Aspect). Educational Outreach is a specialist autism intervention team that provides a range of direct and indirect services to children, adolescents, families, schools, and to the broader community. Our philosophy is based on collaborative partnerships with parents, schools, and other professionals and agencies.
