April 2010 is Autism Month, commencing with World Autism Day on Friday April 2 and ending with Autism Hour at 9am on April 30.

 

Autism Month is an opportunity to be involved in a number of activities which help raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders.

Major Autism Month Events


April 14


The Aspect Adult Programs Expo offers people with autism and their families, school leavers, service providers and the general public the chance to experience the programs Aspect offers to people with autism and related disabilities.   The
exhibition of programs available for adults with autism will be held at the new Canterbury Day Program site (Unit 5 186-188 Canterbury Rd, Canterbury) from 10 am til 2pm. On display will be our specialised programs, including art, music, assistive technologies, dance and drama. April 19 – 23


Internationally acclaimed artist and autistic savant Stephen Wiltshire, is coming to Sydney for Aspect. Stephen will create an artwork of Sydney live in Customs House (Circular Quay) and exhibit some of his drawings during his visit. Meet Stephen and see his work.

Taking Care of the Essentials
is a one-day conference for parents and carers. Specialist staff from Aspect will explore practical approaches to issues relating to raising children and young people who have an autism spectrum disorder.
