This program makes available a network of independent, professional counsellors which is confidential, free of charge to staff and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Work Life Balance

Aspect recognises the importance of a healthy life/work balance. We have a growing mobile workforce and large number of part-time employees. Our flexible work policy provides for a number of options including:

  • Providing alternative work arrangements
  • Work from home
  • Job sharing
  • Purchasing additional leave

Decisions about flexible work arrangements are considered on a case by case basis having regard to the employees’ circumstances and Aspect’s business requirements.

We are passionate about people, about being positive, and about what’s possible. Here at Aspect, we enthusiastically support our people through comprehensive onboarding, compliance training, professional & career development and tailored training opportunities using a wide variety of training delivery methods.

Whether you have prior experience or are new to Autism, we offer a range of learning programs and development opportunities to support ethical and evidence-informed person-centred practice and the Aspect Comprehensive Approach. Aspect provides development opportunities for people who want to be great at what they do, want to develop in new areas, or want to progress into more senior roles.

Additional learning & development opportunities for Aspect staff include:

  • An on-demand library of online courseware covering a diverse range of subjects.
  • The Aspect Supported Study Program, granting successful applicants with up to 12 additional paid study leave days to support them in completing their own professional qualifications.
  • Participation in academic research projects or conferences, and accessibility to grants or fellowships through the Aspect Research unit.

We value the thoughts and feedback from all of our staff as a means to gauge Aspect’s organisational health. We actively seek feedback from our staff through regular staff engagement feedback surveys including the externally-managed Voice survey every 2 years. The results of surveys directly influence our organisational strategic and business plans. Aspect staff consistently acknowledge their high alignment with the organisational vision, mission and values, and passion for Aspect and the work we do consistently ranks higher than that of other organisations.

By sharing your perspective and experience of working at Aspect, you help to direct our focus, resources and energies and ensure that Aspect continues to be a great place to work.

Spirit of Aspect awards

At Aspect, we strive to live by our values – we are passionate about people, about being positive and about what’s possible. Each year, in recognition of those staff who demonstrate exemplary practice in applying Aspect’s values in their day to day work, the Spirit of Aspect Awards are presented at the AGM. The staff are nominated for these awards by their colleagues, students, participants or families, and the recipients are selected by a committee representing senior management and the Board.

Aspect’s success depends on many factors. One of the most important is the commitment of our staff to Aspect’s inspiration, vision, mission and values. Our goal at Aspect is to go beyond formal policies and procedures so each of us takes ownership of our own vision, mission and values. We must be open to challenges about what we do in order to become the person-centred, family-focused, and customer-driven organisation we want to be, which puts the people we work with at the centre of everything we do. Aspect’s Staff Code of Conduct helps guide the behaviour of our staff to achieve this.

What you need to apply for a role at Aspect

Aspect is committed to providing an environment free from abuse, neglect and exploitation of the people we support. Safeguarding our participants and staff is of the highest importance to Aspect and depending on the role you are applying for there are a range of pre-employment/background checks which may be required.

At Aspect, we value diversity and encourage applicants from all cultures or backgrounds to apply for vacant positions.

To be eligible to work with us, you must be legally entitled to work in Australia. If you are not an Australian citizen, this means you must hold a valid Australian visa with suitable work rights.

As part of Aspect's online recruitment process, you will be asked to describe your right to work in Australia. If you are a non-Australian citizen but hold a valid Australian work visa, you must also consent to a VEVO check (Visa Entitlement Verification Online) to confirm your visa status and any condition or work limitation attached to your visa.

If you do not hold a valid visa, there are very limited opportunities for sponsorship. Aspect would only consider sponsoring a work visa if there was a genuine business need and have been unable to hire an Australian employee for the role after undertaking specific and prescriptive Labour Market Testing and the organisation is able to meet the conditions and obligations of the specific visa sponsorship program.

"I really believe that everyone is 'a different brilliant®' and we should appreciate those differences. It means different skills, ways of thinking and personalities that can be amazing, beautiful and truly brilliant if we recognise and support that."

“While I felt comfortable working with clients and their families, I knew there was a gap in my knowledge around Autism, particularly when it came to delivering therapy. It was a steep learning curve, but I felt so supported by my supervisor and colleagues. I was very lucky to be part of the new induction.”
Ryan LANGE Photo
“The support that we have had since we started from all the staff has just been amazing. I would say that the induction period was definitely a highlight in terms of the really gradual increase to our caseload and going through all of the training at the start. I think it's super important as a new grad to know that you can get that and it’s essential to have that sort of gradual uptake of clients to make us feel comfortable as well, which I know Aspect did really, really well.”

"The rapport and bond developed with children has been amazing. Seeing that relationship grow and it flowing through to that child being able to sit for longer or achieve more academically or socially. "

“Being able to work in the client’s natural environment is a big highlight. Working on functional goals in functional settings is powerful; you are able to see whether they’re generalising new skills to their actual life, and whether it’s having a functional impact. You can actually see the impact, and see them apply what you’re doing to their everyday life. It’s really rewarding.”
