"What I find here at Aspect is the values and the mission of the organisation are visible every day in what we do with our clients. I think the culture here particularly in Northern NSW is very supportive, everyone's so friendly, welcoming and passionate about the work they do.”
Amanda started her career as a Registered Psychologist 6 years ago after completing a Bachelor in Psychology followed by a Masters in Organisational Psychology. Her previous experience was in clinical and workplace psychology, working mainly in adult mental health, disability and return to work. While contemplating moving away form the employment sector, Amanda was referred to Aspect via our Employee Referral and Incentive Scheme and was successful in securing a role in the Northern NSW region.

Despite being an experienced Psychologist prior starting with Aspect, Amanda had the benefit of commencing with Aspect during the new graduate intake. This meant she was able to participate in a comprehensive induction with other new graduate and experienced therapists at the beginning of the year.
“While I felt comfortable working with clients and their families, I knew there was a gap in my knowledge around Autism, particularly when it came to delivering therapy. It was a steep learning curve, but I felt so supported by my supervisor and colleagues. I was very lucky to be part of the new induction.”
Aspect has a range of opportunities for continued learning including its development of internal Communities of Practice. These are groups of Aspect Therapists, facilitated by senior staff, that discuss areas of interest of their choice such as feeding and fussy eating, social thinking and supporting adolescents. These ongoing discussions allow for continuous learning and growth throughout the team. There is also a solid supervision structure in place for continuing to grow and develop skills.
“I would strongly encourage people to join our team. I think if you enjoy having variety in your days and being in a multidisciplinary team then it’s definitely the place for you. Being in a really person-centred environment where we get to share our client’s journeys with them is very rewarding. I definitely enjoy being more itinerant and having that autonomy in my day.”
