What is this research study about?

This study is looking at the early neuropsychological profiles and learning processes that contribute to the intellectual, adaptive, academic and mental health outcomes in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Why should I help?

This study explores a child’s early development, with the potential to follow up your child longitudinally and track their development over time. Participants will go in the draw to win one of two $100 Coles/Myer vouchers for participating.

Who can take part?

You are invited to take part in this study if you live in Sydney and you are the parent of a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder who is aged between 2 years to 7 years.

Who is conducting this study?

This study is led by Associate Professor Melanie Porter (Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist) and Ms Jessica Reeve (Clinical Neuropsychology Intern) from Macquarie University, Sydney.

What will I be asked to do?

Your child will complete a range of tasks, including looking at pictures, answering questions and solving puzzles. The tasks take approximately 2 hours to complete, and some testing can be done in your home or at a location convenient to you. Parents are also asked to complete an interview and some behavioural questionnaires, taking approximately 1.5 hours in total. We can provide you with feedback on your child (including a written cognitive report).
