Many people on the autism spectrum struggle with the transition into paid employment, and a new partnership between Aspect Capable and EPIC Assist is working to simplify the process.
The new partnership combines the best of both organisations, with Aspect Capable bringing their strong base of jobseekers to join EPIC Assist’s many employer connections.
The partnership was born when both organisations identified their strengths and where they required support. While Aspect Capable had a solid base of jobseekers, they needed to develop employer connections and find roles in which to place their jobseekers. On the flip side, EPIC Assist had built up strong connections and partnerships with industry, but didn’t have the broad jobseeker base of Aspect Capable. Both organisations realised they were working towards the same goal, and rather than attempting to fill their gaps alone, they teamed up to create a dream team!
While still in its early stages, both organisations see the partnership resulting in the aims of both organisations being realised: levelling the playing field for people on the spectrum, and assisting them to find sustainable, meaningful employment.
Aspect Capable will predominantly be working with jobseekers to get them ‘job ready’, which will involve mentoring and working on skill and confidence building. When the jobseeker is deemed ‘job-ready’ they will be referred to EPIC Assist for placement into a suitable role. Concurrently, EPIC Assist will be harnessing its connections with employers, and working closely with them to ensure they feel confident in hiring people on the spectrum, and supporting them once they are on the job.
The Aspect Capable Mentoring Program offers guidance and advice to assist adults on the spectrum move into the world of work with ease and confidence. Our Employment Mentors are experienced in offering specialist employment support, so we understand your unique strengths and the barriers faced when making the transition into employment. We will work with you to uncover your untapped capabilities to fulfil your potential in the workplace and find meaningful employment
Aspect Capable Workplace Training offers bespoke autism awareness training for your organisation to understand the contribution employees on the autism spectrum can make to your workplace, learn best practice strategies for managing and supporting your employees and tips for successfully recruiting candidates from this untapped talent pool.
Disability Employment Service’s (DES) and Transition to Work (TTW) providers around Australia are seeing an increase in their numbers of job seekers on the spectrum. Aspect Capable can work in collaboration with your client and staff to provide training, support and coaching to build the skills and capacity within your team and work with your clients to get better outcomes for your jobseekers on the spectrum.
Aspect Capable can meet employees’ training needs via our one day introductory training courses for employees on the spectrum.
Aspect Capable offers autism specific vocational assessments for individuals on the autism spectrum and workplace assessments for employers.
