This site has been designed to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 Level AA compliance (http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/) which means it's designed to comply with worldwide standards for disability access.

The site has been designed and developed to be accessible by all users, including those using assistive technologies.

Non English Speakers

The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) provides free interpreting services to non-English speaking Australian citizens and permanent residents communicating with approved groups and individuals on behalf of the Department of Social Services. These services are delivered through TIS National to Aspect for case work and emergency services.

We also provide a list of translated application and consent forms available in various languages other than English. Click here to access these forms

Exceptions

Portable Document Files (PDFs)

Adobe Acrobat PDFs have been used to present lengthy documents and formatting that can't always be presented in HTML or text.

By downloading the latest version of Adobe Acrobat reader you'll find there are a number of features that support disabled users. Including the ability to:

  • read PDF files aloud using standard operating system text-to-speech functionality
  • have greater control when using screen readers
  • evaluate the accessibility of an Adobe PDF file.
