Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is Australia’s largest autism-specific service provider, with one of the biggest autism-specific school programs in the world. A not-for-profit organisation, we work in partnership with people of all ages on the autism spectrum, and their families to deliver evidence-informed solutions that are person-centred, family-focused and customer driven.

Our services provide people on the autism spectrum with the opportunity to realise their unique potential, as well as providing much-needed support to their families, carers, friends and colleagues. Aspect’s vision is to provide the best possible opportunities for people on the spectrum. We believe that people on the autism spectrum are a different brilliant®.

A Board of Directors oversees the strategic direction and key accountabilities of Aspect. The Directors possess a mix of qualifications, knowledge and experience ensuring a skilled, effective and diverse Board.

National Autism Strategy

The Australian Government wants to develop a National Autism Strategy.

The draft Strategy is expected to be released for public comment towards the end of 2023. It will be an important step to ensure people have the opportunity to provide feedback on what is in the draft Strategy, including its principles and areas for action.

Disability Royal Commission

The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission) was established on 4 April 2019 by the Federal Government of Australia.

Aspect has voiced it’s support for the establishment of the Commission and is encouraging the autistic and autism communities, staff and the general public to read about the Royal Commission and how they can make a submission.

National Redress Scheme

In December 2018, the Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) Board resolved that Aspect participate in the National Redress Scheme, and be part of this national commitment to recognise the impact of institutional child sexual abuse.

Modern Slavery Statement

Aspect’s Modern Slavery statement outlines the actions taken over the past 12 months to identify modern slavery risks and what actions we will be taking now and into the future to ensure that we are doing all we can to identify prevent modern slavery in our business.

Structure & Governance

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is classified as a Public Benevolent Institution by the Australian Tax Office. The organisation is registered with the Australian Securities & Investment Commission as a public company limited by guarantee.

The Chief Executive Officer and the senior team manage and coordinate the operations of the organisation.
Aspect’s auditors are Grant Thornton Audit Pty Ltd.

Aspect takes legal advice from Thomson Geer.
Aspect appoints an external investment adviser to manage the investment portfolio/reserve.
