5. What Workshops does Aspect provide for adults who have an Autism?

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is currently looking to work with small groups of adults (18 years and over) who have a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome (also known as high-functioning autism) and who are interested in forming social connections with one another. To facilitate genuine, and sustainable, connections these groups will be based on the participants' locations and also areas of interest.

This program is in its early stages of development. We are currently collecting data on potential participants in NSW and also volunteers to assist with group facilitation. From this database we will be able to identify groups of like-minded individuals who may be interested in getting to know one another.

If you have Asperger's Syndrome or you provide a service for a client who does, and you are based in NSW we would love to hear from you. We are also interested in hearing from adults without Asperger's Syndrome who may be interested in volunteering to facilitate a group.

If you are interested in taking part, please email: customerservice@autismspectrum.org.au

6. How do I buy a toileting manual?

This practical guide outlines important questions for parents and carers to consider before commencing the toilet training process. Information is presented on the difficulties many children with autism, and/or developmental delay, experience with regard to toilet training. The manual places an emphasis on the importance of motivation to the development of new skills and shows parents how to establish a reinforcement system. Tips for determining patterns, looking at the impact of children’s diets, promoting generalisation, independence and training both the bowel and bladder are provided in the manual. The How to Guide for toilet training also provides examples of relevant visual supports and sample data collection forms.
