Mum arranges screening of LIFE, Animated to help friends and family understand autism
Award winning documentary Life, Animated opened in selected cinemas in Australia last month. The heart-warming story follows Owen and his family, a young man on the autism spectrum whose special interests in Disney movies become a means to communicate with those around him.
For Nicola, mum of two from Allambie in Sydney's Northern Beaches, it is a story close to her heart, as her 4 year old son is on the autism spectrum.
With the movie only being on a limited release, she has arranged a screening of the movie at Warringah Mall, with proceeds from ticket sales and raffle tickets donated to Autism Spectrum Australia.
“Lots of the people coming are teachers, child care educators and parents, who want to gain a greater understanding of what it is like to grow up with autism” says Nicola.
“I really hope the movie will help raise awareness for people on the autism spectrum in a positive light.”
AMP have generously agreed to match the funds raised from the ticket sales and raffle through their charity giving program.
