NDIS rollout in NSW
Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) offers a range of flexible options to people who are eligible for funding under the NDIS. In NSW, we are already working with many people and families taking part in the Hunter Region trial site and in the early rollout locations in the Nepean Blue Mountains Region.
The NDIS will be rolled out across NSW between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2018.
From 1 July 2016, people living in Hunter New England, Southern NSW, Central Coast, Northern Sydney, South Western Sydney, Western Sydney and Nepean Blue Mountains will be able to access the NDIS.
From 1 July 2017, the NDIS will be in place across the rest of NSW, and people living in Northern NSW, Mid North Coast, Sydney, South Eastern Sydney, Illawarra Shoalhaven, Murrumbidgee, Western NSW and Far West NSW will be able to access the NDIS.
These locations reflect the current NSW Disability and Health service districts. Until the NDIS becomes available in your area and you have an agreed NDIS support plan, your current disability supports and funding will remain in place.
According to Rachel Kerslake, National Manager Aspect Early Intervention & Therapy, the NDIS will open up exciting opportunities for people on the autism spectrum and their families. She said “the funding means you really are in control of the choices you make and the services you use”.
“Being involved from the outset, we at Aspect have gained valuable experience in supporting people as they transition into the NDIS, Ms Kerslake said.
Aspect is registered with the National Disability Insurance Agency to offer a range of services in areas of NSW that have been rolled out including early intervention for young children and individualised programs across the lifespan.
There many more options available to you than have been described briefly here and in our flyers. Aspect works in partnership with you using its unique philosophy and evidence-informed approaches to person- and family- centred planning.
“Working with Aspect … really opened my eyes to what’s possible. It’s amazing how many people are around to support you when you need it.”
