Taronga Zoo will be offering special early entry for guests on the autism spectrum on Saturday 8th April 2017. The iconic zoo in Sydney has teamed up with Autism Spectrum Australia to start the Access Taronga initiative, which aims to provide a range of supports and services for guests on the spectrum.Read more

Aspect to host Asia Pacific Autism Conference 2017

The Australian Advisory Board on Autism Spectrum Disorders (AAB-ASD), the convenor of the Asia Pacific Autism Conference, has appointed Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) to host the fifth Asia Pacific Autism Conference in 2017 (APAC 17) in Sydney at the International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour.
The Cooperative Research Centre for Living with Autism Spectrum Disorders (Autism CRC) will also be involved to promote the research outcomes being generated by this world-first national research collaboration here in Australia.Read more

Sensitive Santa 2016

Staff from Autism Spectrum Australia have been as busy as Christmas elves, training Santas across NSW on how to interact with children on the autism spectrum.
The Sensitive Santa program invites families with a child on the autism spectrum to have a photo with Santa without the common hustle and bustle and sensory overload.
Families can book during certain times, which means no queues, and have their child or children photographed with Santa in an autism-friendly environment.Read more
Picture books help preschool students understand their peers with autism

A series of picture books created by a team of researchers at the University of Wollongong (UOW) aims to help young children support and understand their friends who are living with autism.Read more
Developed by Professor Mitch Byrne, from UOW’s School of Psychology, in collaboration with doctoral student Lidija Balaz, the three books are targeted at those aged between three and five and explore the experiences of children with autism who attend mainstream preschools.
